Chiropractic Biophysics care helps to relieve pain because of these reasons:
1) We always start with a thorough exam of the spine by testing muscles, ligaments, discs, joints, and nerves. This allows us to pinpoint the location of the pain and what tissues are involved.
2) We analyze spinal structure with detailed digital x-rays and a very accurate physics software which allows us to compare your spinal measurements to what we know to be the normal ranges. This allows us to determine structural changes to the spine, and how that is involved with the tissue findings.
3) Once we know what is wrong we treat every aspect of the pain including muscle, joints, ligaments, discs, nerves, individual bone alignment, and total curvatures of the spine. When you treat every aspect of the root of the problem you get much better and longer lasting results compared to joint only treatments (such as standard chiropractic adjustments) or muscle only treatments (such as physical therapy).
Adjustments are a great treatment for joints. During an adjustment the doctor is quickly pushing on the spine to pull the joints apart. The goal of this treatment is to break up adhesion's in the joints to allow the joints to move more freely. It is not necessary to have a pop to help to release the adhesion's in the joints. The popping sound that you hear during adjustments is a gas release inside the joint. We strive to hear that sound because it means we are getting good release of the joint, but it isn't required to get the desired effect.
Yes it can. It always depends on what each individual patient's plan covers. We always check each patient's insurance for them before we start treatment.
Extremely safe! We do expect patients to have a mild amount of soreness in the beginning of treatment, but that improves very quickly.
Yes! We have different ways of treating pregnant women so that we don't put any pressure on the baby.
No. Adjustments definitely feel good for most patients, but once the pain is gone you won't feel the need for them anymore.
Yes it is. In our office we treat children who are over the age of 7 years old. For babies and infants we refer you to pediatric chiropractors.
Typically a 4 year bachelor's degree and a 4 year doctorate degree. Most of the education is focused on the spine, muscles, nerves, discs and the human body. Chiropractors have little to no education in medications which is why they do not prescribe medications. Typically the goal in our office is to get patients off medication by working directly on the root cause of the problem and working with their medical doctor to slowly get patients off medications.
Yes of course. The type of back or neck surgery performed will alter how each patient is treated, but we can still work with surgery patients.
Every patient is different, but we expect our patients to be progressing every step of the way. Some patients are pain free in only one treatment. Others may take months to reach their goals. Once we finish the exam and x-rays the doctor will have a much better idea on how much time it will take. If patients are not progressing we will make drastic changes to their treatments or we will stop treating that patient and refer them out. We do not string out our patients for long periods of time.
